Teen Girl Arrested After Sister’s Fatal Stabbing
A TikTok followers dispute between two teenage sisters in Gujranwala turned deadly after a 17-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her 15-year-old sister, police said.
The incident occurred on August 30 within the jurisdiction of Ladhe Wala Waraich police station. Police later arrested the elder sister after the victim’s father filed a first information report (FIR).
According to the preliminary investigation, the sisters argued over TikTok followers and money. The disagreement reportedly became violent when the elder sister allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and attacked her younger sister.
Victim Dies After Knife Attack
Police identified the victim as 15-year-old Zobia Manahil. She suffered a serious stab wound to her lower back during the alleged attack.
Family members reportedly tried to provide first aid after the incident. However, Zobia died at the scene after losing a large amount of blood.
The victim’s father, Abdul Shakoor Khan, later approached police and registered a case against his daughter.
According to the FIR, Abdul Shakoor was at home with two sons-in-law when they heard a disturbance on the rooftop. They went upstairs and found the two sisters arguing over money.
The father alleged that Kainat then took a knife from the kitchen and attacked Zobia.
Police Arrest Elder Sister
Following the FIR, police arrested the 17-year-old suspect. Officers also recovered the alleged murder weapon from the scene.
SP City Gujranwala Hina Naik Bakht said the family initially did not report the incident to police. Authorities learned about the death through Rescue 1122.
Police also faced resistance when officers reached the house, according to the SP. The family was initially reluctant to pursue legal action.
However, the victim’s father eventually filed the FIR against his daughter.
TikTok Followers Reportedly Triggered Argument
During the preliminary investigation, police said the accused allegedly confessed to the killing.
According to Hina Naik Bakht, the suspect claimed that the dispute started because her younger sister had more TikTok followers.
The accused allegedly believed that Zobia was taking away her followers. The disagreement reportedly intensified before the stabbing occurred.
Both sisters regularly created videos for TikTok and other social media platforms. Their family said they had been producing online content in an effort to become financially independent.
They reportedly created food-vlogging videos and maintained several social media accounts.
Police Examine Damaged Mobile Phone
Police said the accused also damaged her mobile phone after the incident. Investigators believe she feared that the device could contain evidence.
Despite the damage, police sent the phone for forensic examination. Investigators will examine the device and other evidence as part of the case.
Authorities are also continuing to assess the circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation.
Police Warn Against Case Withdrawal
Meanwhile, police have raised concerns that the victim’s family could later attempt to withdraw the case or reach a reconciliation.
Hina Naik Bakht said police would ensure that appropriate non-compoundable provisions were included in the FIR.
Such provisions apply to serious offences that cannot simply be settled or withdrawn through a private agreement.
The officer said the situation was challenging because the victim’s father had filed the case, while the family had initially resisted police action.
Investigation Continues
Police said the investigation remains underway. Investigators will examine forensic evidence, the damaged mobile phone and other material linked to the incident.
The case has also highlighted concerns about disputes among young social media users when online popularity and financial expectations become sources of conflict.
For now, the 17-year-old suspect remains in police custody as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding her sister’s death.
