Ajay Devgn has confirmed that Drishyam: The Conclusion will be the final chapter of the Hindi-language Drishyam franchise. Speaking at the film’s trailer launch in Goa, Devgn said the filmmakers had always intended to bring Vijay Salgaonkar’s story to an end with the third instalment.
Devgn attended the event alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, Rajat Kapoor and director Abhishek Pathak. During the event, he addressed speculation about another sequel and made the franchise’s future clear.
According to Devgn, the team wanted to finish the story on a strong note. The goal was to deliver a satisfying conclusion for both the filmmakers and the audience.
Drishyam 3 Took Years to Develop
Creating the third film was not an easy task for the team. Devgn said finding the right story after the success of Drishyam 2 proved to be a major challenge.
The second film was released in 2022 and became a major success. Therefore, expectations for the conclusion were already high.
Devgn revealed that the script took around two and a half years to complete. Abhishek Pathak and the writers worked through several ideas before settling on the final story.
The actor said the new film contains plenty of suspense and unexpected turns. At the same time, he stressed that the story does not rely on a predictable formula.
Jaideep Ahlawat Plays a New Investigating Officer
The third film introduces a significant new character opposite Vijay Salgaonkar.
Jaideep Ahlawat plays an experienced and sharp investigating officer from the Crime Branch. His character becomes a major obstacle for Vijay as the story develops.
The new officer adds another layer to the franchise’s familiar cat-and-mouse dynamic. Vijay must once again find a way to protect his family while facing intense police scrutiny.
This time, however, the filmmakers have created a fresh conflict around the Salgaonkar family.
Hindi Drishyam 3 Has a Fresh Story
Devgn also clarified an important difference between the Hindi franchise and its Malayalam counterpart.
The earlier Hindi films drew inspiration from the original Malayalam Drishyam story. However, the conclusion has been developed as a completely new script.
Devgn said the Hindi version does not simply copy the upcoming third Malayalam film. Instead, the writers created their own story for the Hindi audience.
He also spoke warmly about Malayalam star Mohanlal, who plays the original Georgekutty character in the Malayalam franchise.
Devgn said he enjoys working with Mohanlal and is interested in seeing his reaction to the new film. He also suggested that Mohanlal has some involvement in the broader plot development.
When Will Drishyam: The Conclusion Release?
Drishyam: The Conclusion is scheduled to arrive in cinemas across India on October 2, 2026.
The film will continue the story of Vijay Salgaonkar and his efforts to protect his family. However, the arrival of a determined Crime Branch officer could create the franchise’s biggest challenge yet.
Meanwhile, audiences will be waiting to see how the filmmakers finally resolve the long-running mystery surrounding Vijay and his family.
The decision to end the Hindi series with the third film also raises expectations for the finale. After two films built around suspense, deception and careful planning, the conclusion promises to bring the story to its final confrontation.
For now, Devgn’s confirmation makes one thing clear. Drishyam: The Conclusion is intended to be the final chapter of the Hindi saga.
