Iran has accused the United States of violating a recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU), claiming Washington resumed military operations in breach of the agreement.
Speaking through a statement shared on social media, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said the US had acted against both the terms of the agreement and international law.
Iran Claims US Misinterpreted the Agreement
According to Moghadam, Washington interpreted the memorandum “contrary to its terms” and used it to expand its military presence in parts of the Strait of Hormuz.
He alleged that the United States sought to achieve through military action what it had failed to accomplish on the battlefield.
Moghadam said Iran rejected what he described as an arbitrary interpretation of the agreement, arguing that it clearly violated the commitments made by both sides.
Ambassador Says Military Action Breached the MoU
The Iranian envoy claimed the latest US military operations marked a direct violation of the memorandum signed between the two countries last month.
He accused Washington of launching attacks that damaged infrastructure while ignoring the principles outlined in the agreement.
According to Moghadam, the renewed military campaign also violated internationally accepted legal norms governing armed conflict.
Security analysts say the latest developments could further complicate diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East. They warn that repeated military incidents increase the risk of broader regional instability. International observers continue urging all parties to avoid further escalation while supporting diplomatic negotiations aimed at restoring stability and protecting civilian infrastructure.
Call for International Condemnation
Iran has urged the international community to respond to the latest developments.
Moghadam called on governments and international organisations to condemn what he described as an “aggressive and reckless” act by the United States.
His comments come amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, where recent military activity has raised concerns about the risk of a wider regional conflict.
Neither US officials nor independent international observers immediately responded to the ambassador’s claims.
