Pakistan Customs officials have seized a large quantity of arms, ammunition and a vehicle during an operation at Sidra Sharif. The Pakistan Customs arms seizure was valued at around Rs32 million, according to officials.
Customs Enforcement staff at JCP Yarik carried out the operation after receiving what authorities described as credible information. Officials said they intercepted a vehicle at Sidra Sharif as part of the action.
However, the driver allegedly abandoned the vehicle and escaped from the scene. Customs personnel subsequently took the vehicle and its contents into official custody.
Details of Pakistan Customs Arms Seizure
According to Customs officials, the recovered weapons included four M4 rifles chambered for 5.56mm ammunition. The rifles were identified as US-made.
Authorities also recovered two G-III rifles, including one magazine, along with 42 Maghull PMAG D-60 magazines. The seizure further included 20 empty M4 magazines and 40 empty AK-47 magazines.
The pistol collection was also substantial. Officials reported recovering 18 Tissa Zigana pistols made in Turkey, with two magazines for each pistol.
In addition, Customs personnel seized 30 Beretta pistols. Of these, 25 were identified as US-made, while five were manufactured in Italy.
The remaining firearms included two unmarked shot pistols and 120 Chinese-made 30-bore pistols.
Large Quantity of Ammunition Recovered
The operation also resulted in the recovery of thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Officials said the seized items included 900 AK-47 rounds marked 711/10 and another 2,700 AK-47 rounds. Authorities also recovered 3,500 rounds of 30-bore pistol ammunition.
The seizure additionally included 1,600 12-bore Pak Shaheen cartridges.
Customs officials said the entire consignment, along with the vehicle, has been secured in official custody.
Investigation Underway
Legal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant laws, according to Customs authorities.
Meanwhile, officials are continuing their investigation into the source and intended destination of the seized weapons. Authorities are also working to identify the driver who fled after abandoning the vehicle.
The operation highlights continued efforts by Customs Enforcement personnel to intercept the movement of undeclared arms and ammunition through the region.
