Saif Ali Khan has opened up about the demanding action sequences he filmed for his upcoming movie Haiwaan. The actor said the scenes were designed to feel raw and realistic, with very limited use of visual effects or body doubles.
During an interview, Saif explained that one sequence involved his character being beaten and tortured before finally fighting back. The scene included kicking, slapping and close combat. According to the actor, the intense buildup was important because viewers were meant to feel his character’s frustration before he retaliated.

Saif said the fight was carefully choreographed by Silva, but the production avoided making the action look artificial. The room was filled with broken glass, which added another layer of difficulty to the sequence.
“There were no special effects added to it; there were no duplicates,” Saif said. He described the sequence as extremely raw and violent. He also revealed that the shoot left him physically exhausted and that he needed to rest for two days afterward.
The actor said there had not been much time for preparation before filming. He had requested proper training, but the planned sessions did not happen. Instead, he and Silva rehearsed a few movements shortly before shooting the scene.
Broken Glass Added to the Challenge
Saif also recalled the aftermath of the action sequence. Pieces of broken glass remained on the set after filming, while he suffered a few minor cuts and bruises.
“Luckily not too many injuries, but there are always some cuts and bruises,” he said. Despite the difficult conditions, the team managed to avoid any major injuries during the shoot.
Haiwaan marks Saif’s first collaboration with director Priyadarshan. The movie also reunites Saif with Akshay Kumar after an 18-year gap. Boman Irani, Sayami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar are also part of the cast.
The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 11. With its intense action sequences and reunion of major Bollywood stars, Haiwaan is expected to draw attention from audiences looking for a high-energy theatrical release.
