Shan Masood Injury Confirmed by PCB
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Shan Masood injury involves a fracture to his left index finger. He suffered the injury while batting in the opening Test against the West Indies.
Medical scans confirmed the fracture. Team doctors have started treatment, and he will remain with the squad in the Caribbean during his recovery.His availability for Pakistan’s first Test against England at Headingley on August 19 will depend on his recovery.
Pakistan Face Another Selection Challenge
The captain’s absence is another setback for Pakistan during the Caribbean tour.
Earlier, opener Abdullah Fazal also missed the first Test because of an injury. The selectors responded by calling up Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel.Now the coaching staff must decide who replaces the skipper in the batting order for the second Test.
Century Overshadowed by Finger Fracture
Before getting hurt, Shan produced one of Pakistan’s finest performances in the series.He scored a patient 109 after early wickets had put Pakistan under pressure. It was his second Test century in three matches and his first outside Asia since 2022.
Despite the finger fracture, he returned to bat later in the match but managed only three runs before Jayden Seales dismissed him.
