Tanzania president husband Hafidh Ameir Hassan dies during hospital treatment

Condolences Follow Death of Tanzania First Gentleman

The death has prompted messages of sympathy from leaders across East Africa. Kenyan President William Ruto expressed his condolences to President Hassan and her family.

Ruto said Hassan had lost a lifelong companion. He also described the late first gentleman as a distinguished Tanzanian and a beloved father. His message reflected the personal and national significance of the loss for the president and her family.

Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye also sent his condolences. He offered sympathy to President Hassan and the people of Tanzania following the announcement.

The messages from neighboring countries highlighted the close regional ties between Tanzania and its East African neighbors. They also recognized Hassan’s role as the president’s husband during her time in office.
