China rejects Trump election claims after US President Donald Trump accused Beijing of interfering in American elections and obtaining millions of US voter records. Chinese officials strongly denied the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated.
China Rejects Trump Election Claims
Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian dismissed the accusations. He said China has never interfered in US elections. He added that Beijing has no interest in becoming involved in another country’s domestic political affairs.
His response came after Trump repeated allegations about China’s role in the 2020 US presidential election. The comments added another layer of tension to the already strained relationship between Washington and Beijing.
China Rejects Allegations of Election Interference
Trump claimed that China accessed around 220 million American voter records during the 2020 election cycle. He also announced the release of intelligence documents that he said exposed foreign interference and weaknesses in the US election system.
China immediately rejected those claims.
Lin Jian said the accusations were completely unsupported by facts. He accused Washington of attempting to damage China’s international reputation. He also stressed that Beijing has always respected the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
According to Lin, China’s position has remained consistent for many years.
China Criticises the United States
After rejecting Trump’s allegations, Lin Jian shifted attention to Washington’s own record.
He questioned the United States over allegations of global surveillance and foreign intervention. He noted that several countries have accused Washington of monitoring governments, businesses and individuals around the world.
Although he did not address every claim individually, he described the accusations against China as politically motivated and lacking credible evidence.
US-China Tensions Continue
The latest dispute comes as relations between the United States and China remain under pressure.
The two countries continue to disagree on trade, technology, cybersecurity, military activity in the Asia-Pacific region and national security issues.
Trump also referred to an intelligence assessment that he claimed showed Chinese leaders wanted to weaken his chances during the 2020 presidential election. Beijing has repeatedly denied those accusations.

As the United States prepares for future elections, discussions about election security and foreign influence are expected to remain politically sensitive.
China insists it has never interfered in American elections. Chinese officials argue that repeated accusations only increase tensions between the two countries instead of encouraging constructive dialogue.
