Karachi airport firing left one Shaheen Force official martyred and another injured after unidentified suspects opened fire near the Airport Colony gate, according to police.
The officials were patrolling within the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station when they noticed suspicious people travelling on a rickshaw and a motorcycle.
Police said the officers tried to stop the suspects. The men then opened fire before fleeing from the scene.
One official suffered fatal gunshot wounds and was martyred. Another officer received a bullet injury to his arm and went to a private hospital for treatment.
The suspects escaped on the rickshaw and motorcycle, police said.
Authorities have started investigating the shooting and are working to identify those involved.
Police Investigate Airport Area Attack
According to the police account, the officers were carrying out routine patrol duties when they encountered the suspicious individuals.
The confrontation quickly turned violent after the officers attempted to stop them.
Police have not publicly identified the suspects or explained why the individuals were considered suspicious. They also have not announced any arrests in connection with the Airport Colony shooting.
The incident has raised fresh security concerns around a sensitive area of Karachi.
Another Police Officer Killed in Karachi
The latest shooting comes after another fatal attack on a police officer near Jamali Pul on the Super Highway.
According to police, the officer was standing near the roadside while waiting for a colleague to arrive for duty.
When his colleague reached the location, he briefly stepped away to drink water at a nearby ambulance. The officer remained at the spot.
Police said an unidentified man then approached him and started a short conversation. The attacker suddenly opened fire.
The officer fell to the ground after being hit. The attacker then reportedly took his service weapon and escaped on a motorcycle with an accomplice.
Officer Suffered Multiple Gunshot Wounds
Police said the attacker appeared to have been waiting for an opportunity to target the officer.
The deceased policeman suffered around five to six gunshot wounds.
Police identified him as Zaman. He was posted at Sohrab Goth police station.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the attack and the escape of the suspects.
The two shootings have added to concerns about attacks on police personnel in Karachi. However, authorities have not yet publicly linked the incidents or established that the same suspects were involved.

Police are now collecting information about both incidents.
Investigators are expected to examine available evidence, identify the attackers and determine their motives.
