Several Kuwaiti firefighters were injured on Saturday while responding to fires that broke out following reported Iranian attacks, according to the Kuwait Fire Force.
Officials said emergency crews managed to contain two major fires despite working under dangerous conditions. During one of the operations, the affected site was reportedly struck again, leaving several firefighters and an oil worker injured.
Rescue Crews Injured During Firefighting Operation
Kuwait Fire Force spokesperson Mohammed Bader Ibrahim said firefighters were tackling one of the blazes when the location came under a second attack.
The renewed strike injured several members of the firefighting team, as well as an employee working in the oil sector. Authorities have not yet released details about the number of people hurt or the seriousness of their injuries.
Emergency medical teams quickly responded and transported the injured for treatment.
Residential Fires Quickly Brought Under Control
In addition to the larger incidents, firefighters extinguished three separate fires caused by falling debris and shrapnel in residential neighbourhoods.
Officials confirmed that those fires caused property damage but did not result in any civilian injuries.
The rapid response by emergency crews prevented the flames from spreading to nearby homes and buildings.
Authorities Continue Monitoring the Situation
Kuwaiti authorities remain on high alert as emergency teams continue inspecting affected areas for additional hazards.
Officials praised the efforts of firefighters who continued working despite the risks, helping bring the fires under control and limit further damage.
