Minix has introduced the ZR535, a new mini PC powered by an older AMD Ryzen processor that has recently returned to the market. The compact system uses the Ryzen 5 3501U, a Picasso-series chip originally designed for mid-range laptops.
The processor features four CPU cores and integrated Radeon RX Vega 8 graphics. While it cannot match newer graphics solutions such as AMD’s Radeon 780M, the Vega 8 GPU should be capable of handling everyday media playback and basic computing.
According to the supplied specifications, performance is broadly comparable to Intel’s N97 processor. That makes the ZR535 suitable for everyday tasks, office applications, web browsing and other relatively light workloads.
Minix ZR535 Targets Everyday Users
Minix has equipped the ZR535 with a dual-fan cooling system for the processor. A separate cooling solution is also provided for the SSD.
One of the mini PC’s notable features is its pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports. This could make the system useful beyond a standard desktop setup, including as an entry-level network-attached storage device.

Minix lists two processor power configurations, with TDP options of 15W and 28W. The system can also support up to three displays at the same time.
These features give the ZR535 some flexibility despite its use of an older processor. The dual-storage setup could also appeal to users who want a compact system for local files or basic server applications.
Minix ZR535 Price and Availability
Minix plans to sell the ZR535 in a configuration with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. The listed price is $529.
The company has not yet announced an official release date.
The price puts the ZR535 in a different segment from some competing mini PCs using the same AMD processor. The Bosgame E2 Plus, for example, also uses the Ryzen 5 3501U and has been listed with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The Bosgame model was reported at around $199.49 on Amazon at the time of the supplied report, although prices can change.
For buyers considering the ZR535, its appeal will likely depend on its connectivity, dual-storage support and compact design rather than raw processing performance. The older Ryzen platform is not aimed at demanding modern gaming or heavy professional workloads.
