Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has invited the leaders of Kuwait and Bahrain to attend the second GCC-EU Summit, which Saudi Arabia will host in October.
The Saudi monarch sent separate invitations to Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Meanwhile, the upcoming summit is expected to focus on cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union.
Saudi Arabia Extends Summit Invitations
Saudi Ambassador to Kuwait Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khaled delivered King Salman’s invitation to Sheikh Meshal during a meeting in Kuwait City. The invitation comes as Gulf states continue to strengthen coordination on regional and international issues.
Separately, Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Naif bin Bandar Al-Sudairi delivered a message from King Salman to Bahrain’s King Hamad. The meeting took place at Al-Sakhir Palace.
King Hamad welcomed the invitation and expressed his appreciation to King Salman. At the same time, he highlighted the longstanding ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The Bahraini king said both countries remain committed to strengthening their relationship across several areas. In addition, he said closer cooperation would serve the interests of their peoples.
Bahrain Highlights Gulf Cooperation
King Hamad also praised King Salman’s efforts to strengthen Saudi-Bahraini relations. Furthermore, he highlighted Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting cooperation and coordination among GCC member states.
Meanwhile, the Bahraini monarch expressed hope that the upcoming summit would help deepen relations between the Gulf countries and the European Union.
He said the GCC-EU meeting could provide an opportunity to expand cooperation in areas of shared interest. As a result, the summit could further support the broader strategic partnership between the two regions.
GCC-EU Partnership in Focus
The second GCC-EU Summit will bring Gulf and European leaders together for high-level discussions on their long-term partnership. In this context, Saudi Arabia’s decision to host the gathering reflects the importance placed on stronger regional and international cooperation.
