Brendan Fraser is officially back as Rick O’Connell in The Mummy 4.
The Oscar-winning actor has been spotted filming the long-awaited sequel in England. His return comes nearly three decades after he first played the adventurous character in the 1999 film.
Recent set photos show Fraser filming a 1957 speed-trials sequence.
He was seen behind the wheel of a vintage silver-and-red rocket car marked “EPSA.” He also wore a dark leather jacket and a white crash helmet for the scene.
Some background actors reportedly wore Rick O’Connell Racing tracksuits, adding to the period setting.
Rachel Weisz Returns as Evelyn
Fraser is not the only original star returning.
Rachel Weisz is also reprising her role as Evelyn O’Connell, Rick’s wife and fellow adventurer.
Weisz was photographed filming near London’s British Museum in a vintage-inspired outfit. Her return marks the first time she and Fraser will play Rick and Evelyn together since The Mummy Returns in 2001.
Weisz did not appear in 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Maria Bello played Evelyn in that film.
Original Mummy Stars Return
Several other familiar faces are also coming back for The Mummy 4.
John Hannah returns as Jonathan Carnahan, while Oded Fehr reprises his role as Ardeth Bay.
Kevin J. O’Connor is also returning as Beni Gabor.
The cast will also include Numan Acar and Michael Johnston in new roles.
The Mummy Franchise Returns
Fraser first appeared as Rick O’Connell in the 1999 blockbuster The Mummy.
The story followed Rick as he joined Evelyn Carnahan and her brother Jonathan on an expedition to the ancient city of Hamunaptra.
The group accidentally awakens Imhotep, an ancient high priest who unleashes a deadly supernatural curse.
The 2001 sequel, The Mummy Returns, brought Rick and Evelyn back as a married couple. It also introduced their young son, Alex.
Fraser later returned for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008.
The franchise received another reboot in 2017, with Tom Cruise leading the cast. That version did not continue as a planned series.
New Directors Lead The Mummy 4
The Mummy 4 is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
The filmmaking duo are known for their work on the Scream franchise and Ready or Not.
David Coggeshall wrote the screenplay.
Plot details remain largely under wraps, although Fraser has previously teased a return to familiar locations and the adventurous tone of the earlier films.
The Mummy 4 Release Date
Universal currently has The Mummy 4 scheduled to reach theaters on October 15, 2027.
The movie was previously scheduled for a 2028 release before Universal moved it forward on its theatrical calendar.
With Fraser and Weisz back together, the upcoming sequel marks a major reunion for the original franchise.
For longtime fans, the first set photos offer an early glimpse of Rick and Evelyn’s return to the big screen.
