Ukraine launched another long-range drone operation overnight, targeting two Wildberries warehouse attack sites in Russia.
Russian officials said the strikes killed seven people and injured 49 others. The attacks targeted facilities in Russia’s Tambov region and Elektrostal, near Moscow.
Emergency crews quickly arrived at both locations and began rescue and recovery operations.
Wildberries Warehouse Attack Kills Seven Workers
The deadliest strike hit a Wildberries warehouse in the Tambov region.
According to regional Governor Evgeniy Pervyshov, seven employees working the night shift died in the attack. Another 25 people suffered injuries.
Several victims remained in serious condition after debris struck the warehouse.
Firefighters, medical teams and rescue workers searched the damaged facility throughout the night. Officials also reported that local air defence systems intercepted several incoming drones.
Second Strike Hits Warehouse Near Moscow
A second drone struck a Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal, east of Moscow.
Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said 24 people were injured in the incident. Some victims reportedly remained in critical condition.
Vorobyov also said Russian air defence systems destroyed 48 drones over the Moscow region.
However, debris from one intercepted drone reportedly fell onto an oil storage facility and sparked a fire. Emergency crews contained the blaze while authorities assessed the damage.
Ukraine Explains the Drone Operation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian forces targeted logistics facilities that support Russia’s military industry.
According to Zelensky, the sites handled equipment associated with drone production and navigation systems.
He also said Ukrainian forces carried out additional strikes against targets in Crimea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Ukraine has described its long-range attacks as a response to continued Russian missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian cities.
Russia-Ukraine Drone War Intensifies
The latest Wildberries warehouse attack followed Russian strikes that reportedly killed at least 14 people in Ukraine the previous night.
Both countries have increasingly relied on long-range drones to strike targets far from the front line. These attacks have expanded the geographic scope of the conflict and increased risks for civilians and industrial facilities.
Wildberries Chief Executive Tatyana Kim described the incident as a tragedy and expressed condolences to the victims’ families.
Meanwhile, emergency crews and security officials continue assessing the damage at both warehouse locations as the wider Russia-Ukraine conflict continues.
