Pakistan’s mobile phone imports fell 8.85% during the first two months of the financial year 2026-27, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The country imported mobile phones worth $274.129 million during July and August 2026. This compares with imports worth $300.741 million during the same period of the previous financial year.
The latest figures show that mobile phone imports have declined both over the two-month period and during August alone. The decrease comes as the country’s overall import activity continues to be closely watched for changes in consumer demand and foreign exchange spending.
Mobile Phone Imports Fall in August
On a year-on-year basis, Pakistan’s mobile phone imports dropped 13.82% in August 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier.
According to PBS data, mobile phone imports stood at $133.695 million in August 2026. The figure was lower than the $155.129 million recorded in August 2025.
The year-on-year decline indicates that imports remained weaker in August despite continued demand for smartphones and other mobile devices in the local market.
Imports Also Decline From July
The data also shows a month-on-month decline. Mobile phone imports fell 4.80% in August compared with July 2026.
Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $140.434 million in July 2026. The figure dropped to $133.695 million in August, representing a decrease of $6.739 million.
The latest monthly figures therefore point to a second consecutive comparison showing lower import values, both against August last year and the previous month.
PBS Data Highlights Import Trend
The decline in mobile phone imports provides an indication of changing import patterns during the opening months of the new financial year. Mobile phones are a significant part of Pakistan’s consumer electronics imports, making monthly changes in their import value closely relevant to the technology and retail sectors.
For July-August 2026-27, the total import value remained below the level recorded during the corresponding period of 2025-26.
The PBS figures will provide a basis for tracking whether the decline continues in the coming months or whether mobile phone imports recover later in the financial year.
