Cody Walker has opened up about the possibility of bringing his late brother Paul Walker’s beloved character, Brian O’Conner, back for the final Fast & Furious movie.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cody discussed the idea of using artificial intelligence and previously unused footage to recreate Brian for a future appearance. However, he made it clear that he would not personally take part in the process.
Paul Walker died in a car crash in 2013 while Furious 7 was still in production. His brothers Cody and Caleb later helped filmmakers complete some of his remaining scenes.
Cody Walker Leaves Brian’s Future to Meadow
Cody said his position on Brian’s return depends largely on what Paul’s daughter, Meadow Walker, wants.
He explained that he would not want to repeat the experience of helping recreate his brother on screen. At the same time, Cody said Meadow should have a major say because Brian is closely connected to her father.
The character received an emotional farewell in Furious 7. Brian was not killed off. Instead, the story showed him stepping away from the dangerous lifestyle to raise his family with Mia.
Cody believes that was a fitting ending for the character.
He also suggested that filmmakers now have more options than they did when Furious 7 was made. AI technology has advanced significantly, while the franchise has accumulated years of unused footage.
AI Could Offer a New Way to Bring Brian Back
Cody pointed out that AI technology was not available in its current form when Furious 7 was completed.
Because of that, he believes the filmmakers could potentially use existing footage to create a new appearance for Brian. However, he stressed that he would not need to be involved if the production chose that route.
For now, there is no confirmed announcement that an AI recreation of Paul Walker will appear in the finale. The idea remains a possibility discussed by those connected to the franchise.
Vin Diesel Wants Brian and Dom Reunited
The possibility of Brian’s return gained attention after Vin Diesel teased the character’s comeback at FuelFest in 2025.
Diesel said he agreed to move forward with the franchise finale under three conditions. First, he wanted the story to return to Los Angeles. Second, he wanted the series to reconnect with its street-racing and car-culture roots.
His third condition was to reunite Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner.
That comment immediately raised questions about how the filmmakers could bring Brian back following Walker’s death. The character last appeared in Furious 7, which used visual effects and Walker’s brothers to complete his remaining scenes.
Fast & Furious Finale Gets a New Release Plan
The final movie has since received an updated release plan. Recent reporting identifies the finale as Fast Forever, with production expected to begin in December 2026 and a theatrical release scheduled for March 17, 2028.
The filmmakers have not revealed exactly how Brian could appear.
Therefore, fans may have to wait longer for an official answer about whether Paul Walker’s character will return through unused footage, visual effects, AI, or another approach.
Paul Walker died at the age of 40 in November 2013. His performance as Brian O’Conner remains one of the most important parts of the Fast & Furious franchise.
