Brock Lesnar has officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling, confirming that his match against Oba Femi at SummerSlam 2026 was the final chapter of his legendary career.
The 49-year-old made the announcement during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, ending months of speculation about his future in WWE.
“I’m here today to let the world know that I am retired, and I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody,” Lesnar said.
He added that his SummerSlam appearance marked the end of his time inside the wrestling ring.
“Saturday, for Brock Lesnar, that’s it. That’s it for me in the squared circle and everything else.”
Brock Lesnar Retirement Confirmed After SummerSlam
Lesnar had already hinted that retirement was coming after his match against Nigerian wrestling star Oba Femi at SummerSlam in Minneapolis.
Following the match, he left his gloves and boots inside the ring, a tradition many wrestlers use to signal the end of their careers.
WWE later acknowledged the Brock Lesnar retirement by moving his profile to the company’s Alumni section and airing a tribute package on Raw. The tribute featured messages from current WWE stars and legends, including Roman Reigns.
A Career That Defined an Era
Known around the world as “The Beast Incarnate,” Lesnar built one of the most successful careers in combat sports.
He first gained national attention as an NCAA wrestling champion before becoming one of WWE’s biggest attractions. He later captured the UFC Heavyweight Championship before returning to WWE, where he won multiple world titles and headlined some of the company’s biggest premium live events.
Throughout his career, Lesnar defeated many of wrestling’s biggest names and became known for his unmatched strength, athleticism and intimidating presence.
His achievements across amateur wrestling, mixed martial arts and professional wrestling made him one of the few athletes to dominate every major stage of combat sports.
Could Lesnar Return Again?
Although Lesnar says his wrestling career is over, some fans believe another comeback remains possible.
Speculation has already linked him with a potential appearance at WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh next year, following the tradition of legendary wrestlers returning for major events.
However, Lesnar insisted that his decision is final.
Reflecting on his journey, he thanked fans for supporting him throughout a career that transformed a farm boy from South Dakota into one of the most recognizable figures in sports entertainment.
For now, the Brock Lesnar retirement closes the curtain on one of WWE’s greatest and most memorable careers.
