Gaza ceasefire child deaths have drawn renewed attention after an Israeli newspaper reported that hundreds of children have died despite the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that took effect on October 10, 2025. The report highlights the continuing humanitarian crisis and the impact of the conflict on civilians.
Gaza Ceasefire Child Deaths Highlight Ongoing Violence
According to Haaretz, 274 children have been killed since the ceasefire began. Based on those figures, the newspaper estimated that an average of one child has died each day during the truce.
The report also stated that more than 21,000 children have died since the war started in October 2023.
Haaretz reported that Israeli airstrikes caused most of the child fatalities. It added that sniper fire, collapsing buildings and shrapnel caused other deaths. Some injured children also died because Gaza’s damaged healthcare system could not provide lifesaving treatment.
The newspaper said its figures do not include deaths linked to hunger or disease.
Gaza Ceasefire Child Deaths Raise Humanitarian Concerns
The report described worsening humanitarian conditions across Gaza.
It said about 1.7 million people remain displaced. Many families continue to live in temporary shelters without reliable electricity, clean water, sanitation or proper medical care.
According to the newspaper, overcrowded camps face growing public health risks. Residents continue to deal with rats, mosquitoes and poor sanitation. Medical workers have also reported rising cases of skin diseases and other illnesses as people endure extreme heat and harsh living conditions.
Humanitarian organisations continue to warn that civilians face severe shortages of food, medicine and other essential supplies.
Gaza Health Ministry Reports Rising Casualties
Separately, the Gaza Health Ministry said 1,127 Palestinians have been killed and 3,643 injured since the ceasefire took effect. The ministry accused Israel of repeatedly violating the agreement.
The ministry also reported that at least 73,250 Palestinians have been killed and 173,751 injured since the conflict began in October 2023. Those figures have not been independently verified, and Israeli authorities have previously disputed casualty statistics released by Gaza health officials.
Health officials also estimated that the conflict has damaged or destroyed about 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure.
International Concern Continues
The latest figures have increased international concern over Gaza’s humanitarian situation. Aid organisations continue to call for greater protection of civilians and expanded humanitarian access.
Governments and international agencies are closely monitoring developments while urging all parties to reduce violence and support diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further civilian suffering.
