Aamir Khan has reportedly started a major physical transformation for his upcoming film ‘Lalkaara’. Director Ashutosh Gowariker will helm the historical cricket drama.
According to Filmfare, Khan has begun a strict weight-loss program for the role. The actor will reportedly play a much younger character in the film.
Aamir Khan Prepares for ‘Lalkaara’
‘Lalkaara’ takes inspiration from the historic 1952 India-Pakistan Test series.
Khan wants to achieve a convincing younger look for the character. The filmmakers have not yet revealed the full details of his physical preparation.
The project also reunites Khan with Gowariker after 25 years.
The pair previously worked together on the acclaimed 2001 cricket drama ‘Lagaan’.
‘Lalkaara’ Combines Cricket and History
Piyush Gupta and Neeraj Singh wrote the screenplay for ‘Lalkaara’.
The story will reportedly explore friendship, Partition and nationalism. Cricket will also play a central role in the film.
The 1952 India-Pakistan Test series provides the historical backdrop for the story.
Khan Has Transformed for Roles Before
Aamir Khan has undergone dramatic physical changes for previous films.
For ‘Dangal’, he gained substantial weight to play wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat in his later years.
He later lost weight to portray the younger version of the same character.

Farhan Akhtar Clarifies ‘Lalkaara’ Role
The film has also faced reports of a casting change.
Sidhant Gupta has reportedly joined the project after reports linked Farhan Akhtar to the cast.
Akhtar later explained that he never officially joined the film as an actor.
“How do I exit a project when I had never even entered it officially?” he told Variety India.
He explained that actors often discuss potential projects without signing contracts.
Akhtar still remains connected to ‘Lalkaara’ as a producer through Excel Entertainment.
