A Bucha warehouse fire erupted after a Russian drone strike overnight, forcing more than 200 people to evacuate as explosions rocked the area.
The attack struck the village of Myla in Ukraine’s Bucha district, according to local authorities. The resulting fire spread to nearby residential properties and caused significant damage.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, said at least six people suffered injuries. He also reported fatalities, although authorities had not provided a full confirmed toll.
Russian Strike Sparks Major Fire
The drone attack triggered a large-scale blaze at a warehouse. According to Tkachenko, explosions continued as emergency crews worked to contain the flames.
Fires also affected five houses and a catering business. Rescue and emergency teams remained at the scene while authorities assessed the damage.
More than 200 residents left the area as a precaution because of the fire and explosions.
Investigation Launched Into Warehouse
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into possible negligence linked to the warehouse’s storage conditions.
Investigators will examine whether authorities properly authorised the storage and placement of explosive objects and materials at the facility.
They will also check whether the enterprise had the required permits and approvals.
In addition, investigators will examine the actions of officials who made decisions regarding the warehouse.
The investigation could determine whether safety requirements were properly followed before the Russian strike.
Explosions Captured on Video
Videos circulating on social media appeared to show a huge explosion near the site.
One clip showed a large fireball rising into the night sky, highlighting the scale of the incident.
Meanwhile, emergency crews continued their work at the affected location.
Russian Strikes Hit Other Ukrainian Cities
The Bucha incident came as Russian forces launched another large-scale wave of attacks across Ukraine.
A Russian drone strike also killed a man in Kherson on Saturday. Another 44-year-old person suffered blast and shrapnel injuries during the attack.
Two additional people sustained injuries in Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi district, according to local officials.
Ukraine Reports Large Drone Attack
Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched one Onyx anti-ship missile, one Iskander ballistic missile and 267 drones at the country from Friday evening.
Ukrainian air defences reported shooting down or neutralising 233 of the drones by Saturday morning.
The latest attacks reflect the continuing escalation in long-range strikes between Moscow and Kyiv.
Zelenskyy Calls for More Long-Range Strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on his forces to increase attacks deep inside Russian territory.
He said Ukraine currently launches more than 300 long-range drones on average and argued that the number should increase.
At the same time, both sides have increasingly targeted logistics and energy infrastructure with long-range weapons.
The latest attacks therefore underline the growing intensity of the conflict as Ukraine and Russia continue to expand their capabilities for strikes far behind the front lines.
