Saudi Arabia has unveiled its first CEER EXOBOT electric vehicles as Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman launched the company’s flagship sedan and SUV.
The launch marks an important step in the Kingdom’s plan to develop a domestic automotive industry. At the same time, Saudi Arabia is seeking to expand manufacturing, attract investment and create new opportunities for its private sector.
EXOBOT Sedan and SUV Lead Seven-Model Lineup
The EXOBOT sedan and SUV are the first vehicles from CEER’s planned seven-model lineup. Over the next five years, the company plans to introduce additional midsize and compact vehicles with different propulsion options.
The two new vehicles were designed and engineered in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, CEER says their styling draws inspiration from the Kingdom’s landscape and culture.
In addition, the company has developed the vehicles with global markets in mind. As a result, the EXOBOT models are intended to support Saudi Arabia’s ambitions in the international automotive industry.
CEER Manufacturing Complex Supports Production
CEER will manufacture the vehicles at the CEER Manufacturing Complex (CMC). The facility is described by Saudi authorities as the largest automotive production complex in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the complex is expected to support a wider local supply chain as production expands. This could also create opportunities for Saudi companies working in parts, technology, logistics and other automotive services.
Saudi Arabia Targets Automotive Industry Growth
The launch is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader economic diversification strategy under Vision 2030. Therefore, the development of CEER goes beyond the production of electric vehicles.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said the company would help strengthen the automotive sector by attracting investment, developing national talent and expanding the private sector’s role.
Furthermore, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) launched CEER in 2022 as Saudi Arabia’s first national automotive brand. The fund says the company aims to develop the country’s industrial ecosystem while increasing the automotive sector’s contribution to the economy.
CEER Projects Economic Contribution by 2034
CEER expects its operations to contribute more than SAR30 billion ($8 billion) to Saudi Arabia’s GDP by 2034. In addition, the company projects more than SAR80 billion ($21 billion) in improvements to the country’s trade balance.
The company also expects its operations to create direct and indirect employment opportunities. However, these figures are projections and depend on future production, investment and market performance.
Ultimately, the EXOBOT sedan and SUV give CEER its first vehicles for a planned wider lineup. The launch also strengthens Saudi Arabia’s push to establish a domestic automotive industry and expand its manufacturing base.
