The Hamilton youth trafficking investigation has expanded after Hamilton police charged two Greater Toronto Area men in an alleged human trafficking case involving young victims.
The Hamilton Police Service Human Trafficking Unit began investigating in May after receiving information that several youths may have been exploited.
Hamilton Police Investigate Alleged Trafficking Operation
Police allege that 27-year-old Shemar Walters of Toronto trafficked young victims between March and June.
Investigators say Walters advertised the victims’ sexual services online and collected money generated through the alleged exploitation.
Police also allege that 20-year-old Ethan Gangasingh of Brampton helped recruit and procure victims during the same period.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
Multiple Human Trafficking Charges Filed
Both suspects face several serious charges, including:
- Two counts of trafficking a person under 18
- Procuring sexual services from a person under 18
- Receiving a material benefit from trafficking a person under 18
- Possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking
Police said the substances allegedly seized include:
- Cocaine
- Fentanyl
- Methamphetamine
- Hydromorphone
- Oxycodone
Court Proceedings Continue
Walters remains in custody after appearing for a bail hearing.
Gangasingh appeared in court on Monday and was subsequently released under court-ordered conditions.
The charges remain allegations until proven in court.
Police Seek Additional Survivors and Witnesses
Hamilton police believe additional survivors may not yet have come forward.
Investigators have released photographs of both accused men and are asking anyone with relevant information to contact the Human Trafficking Unit.
Police also reminded the public that human trafficking offences have no limitation period, meaning survivors can report incidents regardless of when they occurred.
Anyone with information can contact Hamilton Police or submit an anonymous tip through the department’s reporting system.

The Hamilton youth trafficking investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify additional victims, witnesses and evidence.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have information about the alleged trafficking operation to come forward.
