Israeli Strikes in Lebanon Kill Four

Israeli strikes in Lebanon kill four people and wound 32

Israeli strikes in Lebanon killed four people and wounded 32 others overnight, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

The strikes hit several areas in southern and eastern Lebanon, with the Nabatieh region suffering some of the heaviest attacks. An 18-year-old woman was among those killed. Women and children were also among the wounded.

Israel said the strikes came after an attempted Hezbollah attack on its troops in southern Lebanon.

Israel Says Strikes Targeted Hezbollah

The Israeli military said it targeted Hezbollah fighters and infrastructure during the overnight operation.

According to the Israeli army, the targets included weapons storage facilities. Israel said it launched the strikes after a drone was directed toward its troops.

The military did not report any Israeli casualties from the alleged drone incident.

Tensions Rise Around Nabatieh

The latest strikes came one day after Israel said its forces had taken operational control of the strategic Ali al-Taher ridge near Nabatieh.

The elevated area has become an important point of confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah.

Israel says its forces have cleared Hezbollah fighters from tunnel networks beneath the ridge. However, the extent of Israeli control remains disputed.

Hezbollah Condemns Israeli Attacks

Hezbollah condemned the latest Israeli strikes in a statement on Saturday.

The group accused Israel of continuing its military operations and rejected the idea that recent prisoner releases could justify further attacks.

However, Hezbollah did not confirm that it had carried out the drone attack cited by Israel.

Civilians Among the Victims

The overnight attacks caused significant damage in several Lebanese communities.

In Mayfadoun, residents inspected damaged areas after the strikes. Relatives of an 18-year-old woman killed in the attack said the family had only recently returned after months of displacement.

The incident highlights the continuing impact of the conflict on civilians living in southern Lebanon.

Prisoner Releases Add to Tensions

The strikes also followed the release of Lebanese detainees held by Israel.

The International Committee of the Red Cross helped transfer several detainees back to Lebanon. The releases formed part of confidence-building efforts between the two sides.

Hezbollah welcomed the releases but argued that they should not distract from what it described as continuing Israeli aggression.

Israel and Lebanon Remain in Talks

Lebanon and Israel have continued discussions aimed at reducing tensions along their border.

However, Israeli military operations and Hezbollah activity have complicated those efforts.

The United States has been involved in attempts to support a longer-term arrangement between the two countries.

Despite those diplomatic efforts, violence continues in southern Lebanon.

Fighting Continues Despite Reduced Violence

The latest escalation shows that the situation remains fragile.

While overall violence has declined at certain points, Israeli forces continue to operate in parts of southern Lebanon. Hezbollah has also maintained its ability to launch attacks.

Recent fighting around the Ali al-Taher ridge has further increased concerns about a wider escalation.

For Lebanese civilians, the renewed strikes bring another period of uncertainty.

As diplomatic efforts continue, the latest deaths and injuries underline how difficult it remains to establish a lasting calm along the Israel-Lebanon border.
