Pakistan monsoon forecast indicates another widespread spell of heavy rain as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds across the country from July 29 to August 5. The department has also warned about flash floods, urban flooding, and landslides in several regions.
Pakistan Monsoon Forecast Warns of Heavy Rainfall
The PMD says fresh monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will reach northern and central Pakistan from July 29. In addition, a stronger westerly weather system will move into the region on August 1. As a result, rainfall will increase across many areas.
Punjab to Receive Heavy Rain
Many cities in Punjab will receive frequent rain and thunderstorms. These include:
- Islamabad
- Rawalpindi
- Murree
- Lahore
- Faisalabad
- Gujranwala
- Gujrat
- Sialkot
- Sheikhupura
- Kasur
- Okara
- Sargodha
- Jhang
- Chakwal
- Attock
- Mianwali
The PMD expects isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in these areas.
Meanwhile, southern Punjab will also receive widespread rain from July 31 to August 3. The affected districts include Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran, Vehari, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rajanpur.
Sindh Braces for More Rain
Sindh is also likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
Cities under the forecast include:
- Karachi
- Hyderabad
- Badin
- Mirpurkhas
- Umerkot
- Sanghar
- Matiari
- Jamshoro
- Shaheed Benazirabad
- Tharparkar
Furthermore, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, and Naushahro Feroze are also expected to receive rain between July 31 and August 2.
KP, Balochistan, Kashmir and GB Under Alert
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will receive rain and thunderstorms until August 5.

- Chitral
- Upper and Lower Dir
- Kohistan
- Mansehra
- Abbottabad
- Peshawar
- Mardan
- Nowshera
- Bannu
- Dera Ismail Khan
Likewise, Balochistan will receive rainfall from July 31 to August 3. Zhob, Loralai, Sibbi, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Gwadar, Turbat, and Panjgur remain among the affected districts.
At the same time, Azad Jammu and Kashmir will experience heavy rainfall until August 5, while Gilgit-Baltistan will continue receiving rain and thunderstorms until August 6.
Flood Risks Increase
The PMD has warned that heavy rainfall may cause urban flooding in several major cities.

- Gujrat
- Sialkot
- Multan
- Peshawar
- Nowshera
- Karachi
- Hyderabad
- Sukkur

In addition, flash floods could develop in seasonal streams across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Murree, northeastern Punjab, and parts of Balochistan.
Persistent rainfall may also trigger landslides in mountainous areas.
Public Advisory
The PMD has urged residents to stay alert throughout the wet spell.
Authorities advise people to:
- Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain.
- Follow official weather updates.
- Stay away from flood-prone areas.
- Secure weak structures, solar panels, and roadside billboards.
Farmers should also plan field activities carefully and protect livestock during the expected rainfall.
Officials have instructed local administrations to remain prepared for emergency response if weather conditions worsen.
