Rotterdam Stabbing Leaves Two Men Injured
Police in Rotterdam arrested a 26-year-old man on Saturday after two men suffered injuries in what authorities described as a series of apparently random stabbings.
According to Rotterdam police, the attacks happened in the western part of the Dutch city. Officers said attackers stabbed two male victims at separate locations on Schaepmanstraat and Marconiplein.
One victim required hospital treatment, while paramedics treated the second man at the scene.
Police quickly launched an investigation to identify the person responsible.
Police Investigate Series of Stabbing Incidents
Authorities said another stabbing attempt occurred about 30 minutes later near the Brug Van Cyrene bridge in northwest Rotterdam.
Police believe the same suspect may have been involved in all three incidents.
“A single suspect, who is believed to have been travelling by car, is involved in the stabbings,” Dutch police said in a social media statement.
The incidents occurred in different parts of the city. As a result, investigators began examining the suspect’s movements and the circumstances surrounding each attack.
Police have not released further details about the victims or their current conditions.
26-Year-Old Suspect Arrested
Officers arrested the 26-year-old suspect following the attacks. Investigators are now working to establish what led to the incidents and whether the victims had any connection to the suspect.
At this stage, police have described the victims as random targets.
The arrest allows investigators to question the suspect and gather more information about the sequence of events.
Meanwhile, authorities are expected to examine CCTV footage and other evidence from the locations where the stabbings occurred.
