A Salmonella outbreak in France linked to a batch of pumpkin seeds has sickened 81 people across several regions, according to the country’s Health and Agriculture ministries.
The outbreak occurred between May and August. Six people needed hospital treatment, while two others received care from emergency medical services.
All of those affected have since returned home after their symptoms improved.
Pumpkin seeds linked to outbreak
A public health investigation traced the outbreak to pumpkin seeds processed by a food company in southwestern France.
The products were then sold through several retailers, including the Grand Frais supermarket chain, according to a joint statement from the ministries.
