Will Smith Supermax: Actor Returns to Film Set

Will Smith returns to filming for the Supermax thriller

Will Smith is back on a movie set after a two-year break from film production.

The 57-year-old actor has started filming his new thriller, Supermax, in Sydney, Australia. Production is taking place across New South Wales.

Smith was recently seen on location wearing a metallic copper tracksuit, a white T-shirt and Nike sneakers.

The upcoming film is directed by David Gordon Green and produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax.

Will Smith leads Supermax cast

Supermax follows two FBI agents investigating a mysterious murder inside a maximum-security prison.

Smith plays Rex, one of the lead investigators. AnnaSophia Robb stars alongside him as the other FBI agent.

The cast also features Jason Clarke and Jaafar Jackson. Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Andrés Almeida, Martin Bats Bradford and Erika Ringor are also part of the project.

The film combines a prison mystery with an action-driven thriller story. Its unusual setting is expected to play a major role in the investigation.

Smith returns after Bad Boys: Ride or Die

Supermax is Smith’s first movie since Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

The 2024 action comedy reunited Smith with his longtime co-star Martin Lawrence. The film performed strongly at the box office and earned $193.5 million in the United States.

Smith has not released another movie since then. However, he has remained active in television and streaming projects.

Earlier this year, he hosted the National Geographic travel series Pole to Pole with Will Smith.

He also appeared in the final episode of the series Bel-Air.

What to expect from Supermax

Smith’s return to the big screen adds another major project to his recent career lineup.

The thriller gives him a new role as an FBI investigator rather than returning to one of his established action franchises.

With David Gordon Green directing and a strong supporting cast behind Smith, Supermax is shaping up as a notable new thriller.

Production is now underway in Australia, with more details about the film expected as filming continues.
