Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has contacted the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) for guidance amid an ongoing inquiry by Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Sources told ARY News that Rizwan used the ICC’s online portal to seek clarification about the investigation and whether the ACU was aware of the questioning taking place in Pakistan. Similar reports from other outlets also said Rizwan approached the ICC over procedures related to the inquiry.
The development comes as authorities continue examining allegations linked to information allegedly leaked from the Pakistan dressing room during the team’s England tour.
Rizwan Seeks Guidance From ICC ACU
The Mohammad Rizwan ICC ACU contact reportedly relates to the procedures being followed during the NCCIA investigation.
The ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit can provide guidance to players and officials on anti-corruption matters. It can also assess information brought to its attention and coordinate with cricket boards or relevant authorities when necessary.

NCCIA Questions Rizwan Over Investigation
Rizwan recently submitted a written response to a questionnaire issued by the NCCIA.
According to reports, he said he received a notice from the agency on September 8. However, he questioned what specific online betting activity he was allegedly linked to and said he had not been given details of the incident or his alleged role.
Rizwan also reportedly asked why his mobile phone remained in the agency’s possession and sought clarification about the basis of the inquiry.
The Lahore High Court dismissed his petition challenging the NCCIA notices on September 17.
Investigation Includes Dressing-Room Leak Allegations
The NCCIA investigation began after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged a complaint concerning alleged dressing-room leaks during the England series.
Rizwan and fellow Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq appeared before the NCCIA in Lahore earlier this month. Both players were questioned as investigators examined information from their mobile phones.
Reports have also said investigators are examining financial transactions and other digital information as part of the wider inquiry.
However, initial reports on the forensic examination of the players’ phones said investigators had not found significant material linked to the alleged leaks, while further scrutiny was continuing.
Rizwan Says ICC ACU Is Relevant Forum
In his response to the NCCIA, Rizwan reportedly argued that the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit is the appropriate body for corruption-related allegations involving international cricketers.
His position comes as the NCCIA continues its own investigation.
The distinction between the two processes is important. The ICC ACU deals with cricket’s anti-corruption framework, while the NCCIA is a Pakistani law-enforcement agency conducting an investigation within the country.
Therefore, Rizwan’s request for guidance from the ICC does not itself determine which agency will ultimately handle any matter arising from the investigation.
Seven Pakistan Players Sent Home From England
The inquiry follows a turbulent period for Pakistan during their England tour.
Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were among seven players sent back to Pakistan after the team suffered heavy defeats during the Test series. The PCB later announced an internal disciplinary inquiry into reports concerning discipline and conduct.
The NCCIA subsequently questioned Rizwan and Imam as part of the investigation into alleged dressing-room leaks.
The agency also took possession of their mobile phones for technical and forensic examination, according to reports.
