The Narowal temple damage dispute has intensified after Pakistan rejected India’s claims about the condition of a Hindu temple in Adda Siraj.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office described the Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ assertions as “false and politically motivated.” It said torrential rains damaged the temple’s structure on July 21, 2026.
Pakistan Says Heavy Rain Damaged Temple
Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said local authorities had already inspected the site.
He added that officials had started steps to restore the damaged building.
Pakistan therefore rejected suggestions that the temple had been deliberately destroyed. The government maintains that severe rainfall caused the structural damage.
Khan also accused India of distorting the facts. He said the issue could not distract attention from what Pakistan described as India’s treatment of religious minorities.
India Raises Concerns Over Temple
The dispute began after India expressed concern over reports involving the historic Hindu temple in Siraj village, Narowal.

Pakistan’s Evacuee Trust Property Board, however, rejected that allegation and maintained that heavy rainfall caused the collapse.

Pakistan urged the international community to hold Indian authorities accountable over what it described as persecution and attacks on places of worship.
India has consistently rejected such accusations and disputes Pakistan’s characterization of its domestic policies.
