Student activist Nishu Azad has asked police for protection after alleging that unknown people threw stones at her home in Ghaziabad’s Shalimar Garden area on Saturday night.
Nishu shared a video on social media showing broken glass and stones inside her residence. She said she feared for her own safety and that of her parents.
She also appealed to the police and local administration to take her concerns seriously. The allegations have not been independently verified.
Nishu Azad Raises Concerns Over Family Safety
In her appeal, Nishu said she had genuine concerns about her safety and requested immediate security from the authorities.
She alleged that people linked to the BJP and RSS had gathered outside her residence. According to her account, some individuals threw stones at the house.
“What if something happens to my parents?” she asked while describing her fears.
The latest allegation has added another layer to a dispute that has already triggered protests, police action and competing political claims.
Swatantra Bharadwaj Arrest Adds to Tensions
The alleged stone-pelting came shortly after police detained Swatantra Bharadwaj in connection with the alleged assault on Nishu’s father, Sanjay Azad.
Police detained Bharadwaj in Bulandshahr after a search operation. The case followed a viral podcast in which he allegedly claimed that he had assaulted Sanjay during a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Bharadwaj was later produced before a Delhi court and sent to one-day judicial custody, according to reports published on Sunday.
Dispute Began With Jantar Mantar Protest
The wider controversy began with a confrontation during a protest at Jantar Mantar.
Nishu’s father was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with members of a group protesting against Nishu. The dispute later intensified after Bharadwaj appeared to discuss the incident in a podcast.
Delhi Police, however, previously said Sanjay suffered a simple head injury. The police position differed from claims made in the viral video about the severity of his injuries.
Hindu Groups Plan Protest
Meanwhile, some pro-Hindu organisations have announced plans to protest at Parliament Street police station.
The groups are demanding action over alleged social media posts targeting Hindu deities. A complaint was also filed against Nishu and her father over the alleged posts.
As a result, the dispute now involves allegations from both sides and has drawn growing political attention.
NSUI Offers Support to Nishu’s Family
NSUI national president Vinod Jakhar also visited Nishu’s residence on Saturday.
According to the organisation, he met the family and discussed the alleged attack on Sanjay as well as their concerns about security.
The NSUI has called for an independent investigation and demanded protection for the family. It has also criticised what it describes as delays in registering an FIR.
The organisation said it would continue supporting the family through democratic and legal channels.
Political Pressure Grows
The case has attracted support from opposition leaders and political groups.
Rahul Gandhi has previously expressed support for Nishu and her family. Meanwhile, members of the Cockroach Janta Party and other supporters have protested outside the Parliament Street police station, demanding action against Bharadwaj.
Nishu has stressed that she wants justice for her father rather than a political confrontation.
Police Investigation Remains Crucial
The latest stone-pelting allegation is likely to increase pressure on authorities to investigate the safety concerns raised by Nishu and her family.
For now, the claims about the attack on her Ghaziabad residence remain allegations. A proper investigation will be needed to establish who was responsible and whether the incident was connected to the wider dispute.
With protests planned and the assault case moving through the legal process, the Nishu Azad controversy remains politically sensitive in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
