Ryan Reynolds delighted Marvel fans with a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, crashing Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday panel while dressed as Deadpool in his classic gray X-Force-inspired suit.
The unexpected entrance quickly became one of Comic-Con’s biggest moments, as Reynolds hilariously tried to convince Marvel executives to include Deadpool in the upcoming blockbuster.
Deadpool Steals the Spotlight
Appearing from the audience, Reynolds joked that his name was “Ricky” and claimed he was simply “cosplaying hard.”
His first question was aimed at Paul Rudd, asking:
“Where is Thor, and why was he crying?”
The joke referenced the emotional scene from Deadpool & Wolverine, where Chris Hemsworth’s Thor appears holding an injured Deadpool in a mysterious future sequence.
Rudd fired back with a playful response:
“He’s a Wrexham fan?”
The remark teased Reynolds’ ownership of Welsh football club Wrexham AFC, prompting Reynolds to reply that Rudd already knew the real reason.
Robert Downey Jr. Joins the Fun
Deadpool then shifted his attention to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday production.
He jokingly asked Marvel’s panel:
“When do you start filming?”
Robert Downey Jr., who is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom, quickly answered:
“It’s in the can, bro. Look around you. Did you bump your head?”
The exchange drew huge laughs from the packed Hall H audience.
Deadpool then jokingly tried one last time to secure a role, asking whether there might still be:
- Additional photography
- Budget overruns
- Last-minute cast additions
When it became clear his efforts were unsuccessful, Deadpool dramatically ended the conversation by declaring:
“Happy Hogan, fetch the Audi. We’re leaving.”
He then dropped the microphone and walked out of the event.
Deadpool’s MCU Future Remains Unconfirmed
Although Marvel has not officially confirmed Deadpool for Avengers: Doomsday, speculation has continued ever since the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine, which earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide.
Earlier this month, Reynolds also confirmed that another standalone Deadpool movie is planned, though no release date has been announced.

Marvel Studios also used its Comic-Con panel to reveal several major projects.
