Londoners can Visit Malaysia without leaving the UK capital this September, as Malaysian food, films, music, dance and traditional crafts take centre stage at celebrASIA 2026.
The three-day festival will return to Battersea Power Station from September 11 to 13. Now in its third year, the event will bring together South East Asian cultures, flavours and creative traditions.
Malaysia will feature prominently throughout the weekend. Visitors can explore the country’s food, cinema, indigenous heritage, crafts and contemporary culture while getting a glimpse of what awaits travellers during Visit Malaysia 2026-2027.
Discover Malaysian food in London
Food will form a major part of the Malaysian programme. Visitors can sample Malaysian favourites from Syiok Lah and returning trader Eat Lah.
Chef Mandy Yin will also collaborate with Chick ’n’ Sours. Mambow’s Abby Lee will return after appearing at the 2025 festival, serving her Hainanese Chicken Sando.
Visitors can also explore Malaysian flavours through a Gin Malaya Masterclass. Chef Ranie Saidi will lead an Everyday Malaysian Cooking Class at Borough Kitchen Battersea.
Malaysian films and performances
The celebrASIA Film Festival will run from September 7 to 13. Three Malaysian films — Ola Bola, You Mean the World to Me and Babah — will offer audiences different perspectives on Malaysian life.
The main festival stage will feature music, dance, comedy and DJ performances. Malaysian comedian and actor Vera Chok will make her celebrASIA comedy debut.
Traditional Kompang Malaysian drumming will showcase Malay percussion, while Sarawak dance performances will highlight the cultural traditions of Malaysian Borneo.
Experience Malaysian crafts
Malaysia Square will host family activities, performances and workshops throughout the weekend. Children can take part in free games, while visitors can join movement workshops and other activities.
Royal Selangor will introduce visitors to traditional pewter craftsmanship. Participants aged four and above can use traditional tools to create their own pewter bowl.
Other workshops will explore Sarawak Bemban Mat Weaving, Sarawak beadwork and traditional batik painting.
A taste of Malaysia before your next trip
The Artisan Market will feature 50 independent traders selling food products, accessories, artwork and handmade goods. Malaysian participants include Batik Ying, Nico Nico, Hiraya Manawari and Ooily Bros.
Tourism Malaysia London Director Sulaiman Suip said the festival gives UK audiences an opportunity to experience the country’s cultures and traditions while encouraging them to discover Malaysia in person.
With Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 underway, the festival offers a preview of destinations ranging from Kuala Lumpur and Penang to the beaches, rainforests and communities of Sabah and Sarawak.
celebrASIA 2026 will take place at Battersea Power Station from September 11 to 13. Entry is free, although selected workshops, masterclasses and film screenings require tickets.
