Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell has opened up about his cancer prognosis, saying doctors have given him a timeline of around five years. Despite the difficult news, the 68-year-old actor says he is determined to focus on living his life rather than letting the illness take over his thoughts.
Campbell discussed his health during an appearance on The Adam Carolla Show. The actor was asked about the cancer diagnosis he first revealed publicly in March. At the time, Campbell said his condition was treatable but not curable, although he has chosen not to reveal the specific type of cancer.
During the interview, Campbell described his current outlook as “a five-year deal.” When host Adam Carolla asked if that meant he had roughly five years to live, Campbell replied, “Give or take.”
Bruce Campbell Chooses to Focus on Living
Rather than spending his time worrying about his prognosis, Campbell said he has made a conscious decision to continue living as normally as possible.
“I’ve decided pretty specifically though to live with it, not die from it,” the actor said.
Campbell also explained that he does not want to become consumed by online cancer forums or other people’s experiences. He appears determined to approach his situation in his own way while continuing to focus on the things that matter to him.
Actor Previously Stepped Back From Appearances
Campbell first revealed his diagnosis in March. He later reduced some of his convention appearances and professional commitments while concentrating on his treatment.
The actor has enjoyed a long career in Hollywood. He remains best known for playing Ash Williams in the Evil Dead franchise. The role turned him into a cult favorite and helped establish one of the most recognizable characters in horror cinema.
Beyond acting, Campbell has also worked as a director and producer. His career has included television, film and numerous projects connected to the Evil Dead universe.
For now, Campbell says his focus remains on living with his condition rather than allowing his prognosis to define his life.
