Nepal’s disaster has delivered a clear warning to the wider region.

Climate change is increasing pressure on fragile mountain environments, while millions of people depend on those same landscapes for water, agriculture and livelihoods.

Therefore, Nepal’s call for climate justice is also a call for greater regional preparedness.

The country needs international support, but it also needs better monitoring, stronger infrastructure and faster emergency responses.

For survivors like Tamang, the debate is ultimately simple.

They were born in the mountains and built their lives there.

Now, they want to know how they can remain safe as the climate around them changes.
