The Sindh Bar Council has suspended two lawyers for three months following an alleged incident inside court premises.
The action followed claims that two accused persons were brought to court and allegedly forced to apologise.
The council’s Executive Committee took notice of the alleged conduct.
It suspended Advocate Talal Jumani and Shehzor Panwhar with immediate effect.
The lawyers suspended in the case cannot enter the bar room during the suspension.
They also cannot wear their lawyers’ uniforms for three months.
Disciplinary Committee to Review Case
The Sindh Bar Council has referred the case to its Disciplinary Committee.
The committee will examine the allegations against both lawyers.
It may also recommend further action.
Possible penalties include cancellation of their licences.
The lawyers suspended will therefore face additional scrutiny during the disciplinary process.
Senior Advocate Receives Show-Cause Notice
The council has also issued a show-cause notice to senior Advocate Anila Jassani.
The notice gives her 15 days to explain her position.
The council will consider her response as part of its proceedings.
Council Warns Lawyers Over Professional Conduct
The Sindh Bar Council stressed the importance of professional ethics.
It said lawyers must protect the dignity of the legal profession.
The council also warned that it will act against members who violate professional standards.
It said such conduct can damage public confidence in the legal profession.
The lawyers suspended in the case could face further disciplinary action after the committee completes its review.
