Pakistan and Egypt have jointly called for diplomacy and peaceful dialogue as security concerns continue to grow across the Middle East, stressing the need to protect civilians and prevent further regional escalation.
The appeal came during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum 2026 in Manila.
Pakistan and Egypt Reaffirm Support for Peace
During their discussions, both foreign ministers exchanged views on the evolving situation in Palestine and expressed deep concern over the humanitarian impact of the ongoing conflict.
They reaffirmed their opposition to violence against civilians and condemned illegal settlement activities in the occupied West Bank, while emphasizing the importance of pursuing a peaceful resolution through dialogue.
The two sides agreed that diplomacy remains the only sustainable path toward lasting peace in the region.
Focus on Stronger Bilateral Relations
Beyond regional security, Pakistan and Egypt reviewed their growing bilateral relationship and explored opportunities to expand cooperation in several sectors.
The ministers discussed increasing collaboration in trade, investment, economic development and multilateral engagement, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination on issues of mutual interest at regional and international forums.
Regional Stability Remains a Shared Priority
The talks also focused on the broader security situation across the Middle East, where both countries highlighted the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations.
The ministers warned that continued instability could have far-reaching consequences for global maritime trade, energy supplies and the international economy.
They stressed the need for immediate de-escalation to avoid further disruption across the region.
Regional Four Consultations Reviewed
The two foreign ministers also reviewed the outcome of the latest Regional Four consultations held in Cairo.
They reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting regional peace, stability and stronger cooperation through continued diplomatic engagement.
Ishaq Dar Holds Additional Bilateral Meetings
On the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum, Ishaq Dar also met Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, connectivity, defence and people-to-people exchanges.
Both sides expressed optimism that ongoing regional tensions could be resolved through dialogue rather than confrontation.
Dar also held talks with ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, focusing on enhancing Pakistan’s engagement with ASEAN through closer cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity and regional partnerships.
The ASEAN chief acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in encouraging dialogue and de-escalation during recent regional developments, with both sides agreeing to continue working together on areas of shared interest.
