Türkiye has urged the United States and Iran to return to the negotiating table. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said diplomacy remains the only realistic path to easing tensions in the Middle East.

Speaking to Qatar TV during his visit to Doha, Fidan said Türkiye is working closely with Qatar to support efforts to revive dialogue between Washington and Tehran.

Türkiye Supports Qatar’s Diplomatic Efforts

Fidan praised Qatar for maintaining communication with all parties despite rising regional tensions.

He said Doha continues to play a key role in reducing tensions and creating opportunities for meaningful negotiations.

He also expressed hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts would deliver positive results soon.

Türkiye Calls for Revival of Previous Agreement

Fidan urged both sides to revive the previous memorandum of understanding as the foundation for renewed negotiations.

He explained that Pakistan, Qatar and Türkiye helped shape the agreement through extensive diplomatic efforts.

According to Fidan, returning to that framework offers the best chance to restore stability and prevent further escalation.

Regional Stability Depends on Dialogue

Fidan warned that continued confrontation between Washington and Tehran is creating serious economic and security challenges across the Middle East.

He said attacks on critical infrastructure and the risk of a wider conflict continue to increase uncertainty throughout the region.

He stressed that diplomacy remains far more effective than military escalation in protecting regional peace.

Türkiye and Qatar Strengthen Strategic Partnership

During his visit, Fidan described the relationship between Türkiye and Qatar as a strategic partnership built on mutual trust and long-term cooperation.

He praised Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his diplomatic leadership.

He also expressed condolences over the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and described him as a visionary leader who left a lasting impact on the region.

Regional Cooperation Remains Essential

Fidan said Türkiye and Qatar continue working together on issues involving Lebanon, Afghanistan, Sudan, Gaza and Iran.

He added that regional cooperation remains essential for achieving lasting peace and stability.

He also praised Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Oman for supporting regional development and encouraging greater cooperation.
