Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has directed authorities to immediately accelerate the reconstruction of critical infrastructure damaged following recent United States military strikes, placing special emphasis on transportation and regional connectivity.
The directive came during the president’s visit to Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, where he received a detailed briefing on the extent of the damage caused by the attacks, according to the Mehr News Agency.
Government Prioritises Strategic Infrastructure
President Pezeshkian instructed officials to fast-track the restoration of essential infrastructure, including railway networks, highways, and international transit corridors that are considered vital to Iran’s economic stability and regional influence.
He stressed that rebuilding these projects is crucial not only for domestic recovery but also for strengthening Iran’s position as a regional transportation hub.
Rail Links Seen as Key to Economic Growth
Highlighting the importance of cross-border connectivity, Pezeshkian said expanding and connecting Iran’s rail system with neighbouring countries would enhance trade, improve economic resilience, and reinforce international transit routes.
He noted that stronger transport links would help maximise Iran’s geopolitical advantages while supporting long-term economic development despite growing regional tensions.
